 2 YEARS OLD SYNDROME

    In this day and time, almost every couple wants to make a baby after some years that spent for special pleasures. However, the rate of couples who exactly know the difficulties of raising a baby is not that high but the ones only educate themselves about that whose percentage is relatively low. While raising a baby, there are a lot of fine details and challenging periods like 2 years old syndrome. 2 years old syndrome which is one of the most compelling phases of development is a term that babies are out of the stage of babyhood. This phase plays a deterministic role in child’s upcoming life. So there are some spesific behaviour patterns that must absolutely be known by parents and I will be touching on this matter in my following sentences.

    First of all, in 2 years old syndrome which is also known as “Terrible Twos’’and is the first step of individualization and seen between the 18th and 36th months,  the baby tries to prove her integrity  and trueness of her opinions with the discernment of the ego. She wants to show that her decisions are valuable. And she does this by opposing everybody else who is in her proximity.That is why during this period negative sentences are heard from the children frequently. The example of this typical beaviour in baby is to try dominate over the other people. When we look more closely, the babies in the range of 2 or 4, do not get on well and attemp to rule one another or do not choose to share their toys. So these are one of the quite possible attitude patterns of 2 years old syndrome. And to be able to manage these difficult cases, we need to know the strategic responses to our baby for their own good.

    Secondly , desire for independence in the baby is directly related to Terrible Twos. In the wake of this babyhood stage in which spent dependent on mother and is impossible to exist alone, the child who start speaking and walking , moves away slowly from mother with the development of characteristics that she acquire herself alone. At that stage, they highly act more impulsive and independent rather than being in mothers hand. And when they are interfered, they reject that intervention in an absolute manner. Instead, they mostly prefer to do the things which is on the contrary of what parents say. Herein, a conflict between parents and child starts inasmuch as most parent do not know that fine line about how to deal with such situations.

    In a nutshell, 2 year old syndrome which plays an important role in child’s personality development is quite normal and essential period that must be handled carefully by parents. It is not the option but the must that parents educate themselves about that if they care their baby sufficiently enough  and want to have mentally and emotionally powerful child in times to come.

A REVIEW OF A PASSAGE TO INDIA E.M Forster was born in 1879 and died in 1970. During his lifetime, he wrote novels, short stories and essays.
